2009 is going to be a good year. Make it even better by reaching your weight loss goals. Here are a few easy steps to assist you in reaching your goals:

1) Drink More Water.

Many times people do not realize how little water they drink. And the more water you drink the better. Not only does water improve ones complexion and immune system, but water can help you eat less. The next time you feel like having a snack, reach for a bottle of water instead. The water will fill your stomach, causing you to not feel hungry. If you replace a daily snack with a bottle of water, you could curve the number of calories consumed per week by almost 2,500 calories.

2) Set Weight Loss Goals.

It is tough to know if you are making progress with your weight loss program if you don’t know where you are headed. Take some time to sit down and create a couple of very realistic weight loss goals for 2009, and update them once every week. If you plan to workout at the gym then be sure to include a fitness plan. If you want to drink more water (as instructed in step #1) be sure to notate the number of 8 ounce glasses you want to have every day. Every goal will help. And once it has been achieved, cross it off your list and focus all of your energy on completing the rest.

3) Drink Alcohol Sparingly.

Although alcohol is our friend, especially in uncomfortable or celebratory situations, but it is also a major source of calories. Considering that a 12 oz beer has about 160 calories and creamy cocktails and mixed drinks are even worse, putting aside the alcohol occasionally is a great way to reach your weight loss goals in 2009. Try having a glass of water between each alcoholic beverage or only drinking one weekend a month to help curb the number of calories consumed by drinking alcohol.

4) Have a Protein-Filled Breakfast.

Just as our Mothers have told us our entire lives, breakfast IS the most important meal of the day. And especially if that meal is filled with protein. Breakfast is very important to out bodies in order to get our metabolisms going and give us enough energy to last throughout the day. And protein is important to the growth of muscle and helps you feel full long after breakfast is over. If you wake us early enough in the morning to prepare a breakfast, try having eggs and a dairy product (such as yogurt). Bagels and cream cheese can be replaced by fruit and cottage cheese, and a sugary cereal once shared with the kids before school can be replaced with Special K, Total, or oatmeal, all with skim milk.

5) Acai Berry Diet

One way to be certain you reach you weight loss goals in 2009 is to take acai berries and follow the Acai Berry Diet Plan. Acai Berries are harvested in the Brazilian rainforest of South America, and are one of the world’s most perfect foods. Dr. Oz and Dr. Perricone, both physicians featured on Oprah, named the acai berry the #1 superfood of 2009. And right now you can try the acai berry diet absolutely free for 1 month, just pay shipping. I am certain that the acai berry diet will work for you, just as it has for so many others.

For those of you who have made it successfully through the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday season without overeating to any degree, congratulations. That is very difficult to do. I too have been known to enjoy a little too much turkey, pie, and dressing during this time of the year.

Every year millions of people include losing weight and getting in shape as one of their top new years resolutions. Well, this year we are going to help make it easy for you to keep this resolution.

Here are seven tips from author and weight management coach Abby Aronowitz, Ph.D., on how to avoid holiday overeating:

1) Experiment.

Use the holidays as a time to experiment with new and unusual foods. Try thing you have never tried before. Rather than eating processed dairy and cheeses, try some of the artisinal cheeses from the beautiful spread at the office holiday party. Don’t worry about counting calories as much as during the rest of the year. That will only lead to disappointment and discouragement. Also, try eating fresh seasonal favorites such as homemade cranberry sauce, rather than indulging in too much dessert.

2) Serve Yourself.

By serving yourself at holiday gatherings you are able to politely control the portions of food you eat. Start by eating only the foods you like, and it is okay to go back for seconds. Be sure to pay close attention to signs of becoming full, and give your food time to settle. When eating quickly it is easy to become full without noticing. The next thing you know, your are uncomfortable before even the dessert is served.

3) Push Away.

Many gracious holiday hosts will insist on serving you more than you want to eat. If this happens simply shower them with compliments on how great the food was, and kindly decline their offer. If you accept and the food is in front of you, you will be more likely to indulge.

4) Know Your Limits.

This is really reiterating the steps above, but it cannot be over-stressed. Knowing your limits is one of the most important steps to not overeating during the holidays. Eat slowly, and chew food thoroughly. Give food time to reach your stomach and evaluate whether or not you are still hungry before returning to the buffet line for seconds. This will help keep you from consuming too many calories this holiday season.

5) Stay Active.

If you work out during the year, be sure to continue your routine during the holiday months. It may be hard to do with the addition of holiday parties and holiday shopping to your schedule, but even 20 minutes every other day will make a difference.

6) Compensate.

If you do not want to cut down on the hors d’ oeuvres or egg nog at holiday cocktail parties then compensate by cutting down on the calories during the day. Try eating a breakfast bar in the morning, or a light microwave meal at lunch to help limit the consumption of calories.

7) Take Acai Berries.

Not only are acai berries good for you, but they help tremendously to curb your appetite, which helps prevent us from making bad eating decisions in the first place. Simply take two acai berry tablets or capsules in the morning before beginning the day, and they will increase your metabolism, giving you the energy you need to get through the day. Not only is your hunger craving satisfied, but you are able to enjoy your holiday without counting calories of feeling guilty.
