For those of you who have made it successfully through the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday season without overeating to any degree, congratulations. That is very difficult to do. I too have been known to enjoy a little too much turkey, pie, and dressing during this time of the year.

Every year millions of people include losing weight and getting in shape as one of their top new years resolutions. Well, this year we are going to help make it easy for you to keep this resolution.

Here are seven tips from author and weight management coach Abby Aronowitz, Ph.D., on how to avoid holiday overeating:

1) Experiment.

Use the holidays as a time to experiment with new and unusual foods. Try thing you have never tried before. Rather than eating processed dairy and cheeses, try some of the artisinal cheeses from the beautiful spread at the office holiday party. Don’t worry about counting calories as much as during the rest of the year. That will only lead to disappointment and discouragement. Also, try eating fresh seasonal favorites such as homemade cranberry sauce, rather than indulging in too much dessert.

2) Serve Yourself.

By serving yourself at holiday gatherings you are able to politely control the portions of food you eat. Start by eating only the foods you like, and it is okay to go back for seconds. Be sure to pay close attention to signs of becoming full, and give your food time to settle. When eating quickly it is easy to become full without noticing. The next thing you know, your are uncomfortable before even the dessert is served.

3) Push Away.

Many gracious holiday hosts will insist on serving you more than you want to eat. If this happens simply shower them with compliments on how great the food was, and kindly decline their offer. If you accept and the food is in front of you, you will be more likely to indulge.

4) Know Your Limits.

This is really reiterating the steps above, but it cannot be over-stressed. Knowing your limits is one of the most important steps to not overeating during the holidays. Eat slowly, and chew food thoroughly. Give food time to reach your stomach and evaluate whether or not you are still hungry before returning to the buffet line for seconds. This will help keep you from consuming too many calories this holiday season.

5) Stay Active.

If you work out during the year, be sure to continue your routine during the holiday months. It may be hard to do with the addition of holiday parties and holiday shopping to your schedule, but even 20 minutes every other day will make a difference.

6) Compensate.

If you do not want to cut down on the hors d’ oeuvres or egg nog at holiday cocktail parties then compensate by cutting down on the calories during the day. Try eating a breakfast bar in the morning, or a light microwave meal at lunch to help limit the consumption of calories.

7) Take Acai Berries.

Not only are acai berries good for you, but they help tremendously to curb your appetite, which helps prevent us from making bad eating decisions in the first place. Simply take two acai berry tablets or capsules in the morning before beginning the day, and they will increase your metabolism, giving you the energy you need to get through the day. Not only is your hunger craving satisfied, but you are able to enjoy your holiday without counting calories of feeling guilty.

It is no secret that acai berries are one of the most powerful superfoods in the world. Dr. Nicholas Perricone first introduced this information on Oprah several months ago. However, now there is more proof of the antioxidant capabilities of the acai berry. Researchers at Texas A&M University say that anthocyanin-rich acai berries will help to dramatically boost the amount of antioxidants in your blood, which helps boost your immune system. And having a strong immune system is very important, especially during the Winter months of the year.

The antioxidants contained in acai berries are not naturally-occurring in the body, they must be absorbed from our diets. Antioxidants are responsible for:

Destroying free radicals

Promoting youthful-looking hair, skin and nails

Fighting disease and infection

Boosting the immune system

Increased energy

I recently received a letter from a woman named Lisa in Michigan who has been taking the Acai Berry Maxx for 2 months now and has lost 16 1/2 pounds. And the best part is, she is losing more inches than weight because her clothes are fitting better. And we are talking about clothes she hasn’t worn in over a decade, according to the letter.

How did Lisa lose so much weight? With the Acai Berry Diet and by taking Acai Berry Maxx. Using the acai berry as a dietary aide has become popular all across the United States since premiering on the Oprah Winfree show earlier this year. Both of Oprah’s featured physicians, Dr. Oz and Dr. Perricone, have mentioned the multitude of:

Health Benefits of Acai

Weight Loss Benefits of Acai

Anti-aging Benefits of Acai

Relatively new to North America, the acai berry is a product of the Brazilian Amazon and has been used in that region as a cure-all for over a century. Grown at the top of the Acai Palm, the acai berry is the size of a blueberry, almost purple in color, and has a cholcolately flavor with a hint of fruit.

The Acai Berry Diet is as new to Americans as the acai berry itself. However, to celebrities and the Hollywood elite the Acai Berry has been around for quite a while. Smoothies, cocktails, exotic hors d’ oeuvres, diet plans, all contain acai – because it is the world’s most perfect food (according to Nicholas Perricone, M.D.).

Celebrities love the Acai Berry Diet and Acai itself because it is such a healthy, nutritious addition to one’s diet. Acai Berry Maxx is one of those perfect supplements containing Acai Berry Pulp. Acai Berry Pulp is the inside of the Acai Berry, the most nutritious potrion of the berry, and all that we are able to see of the berry in the US because of the Acai Berry’s limited life span once being picked form the Brazilian Acai Palm.

For more information about the amazing antioxidant properties of the Acai Berry, world’s most perfect food, click HERE.

MonaVie “Scam” Review
Mixed reviews are circulating about one of the acai berry’s best-known products, MonaVie. Many opponents call MonaVie a “scam”. However, I do not think MonaVie is actually a scam. A scam suggests that you are being sold a bill of goods; they take your money, and leave you with an unsatisfactory product. MonaVie does none of that.

Consisting of a nationwide web of distributors, MonaVie, and its myriad of other products, is sold to friends, family and acquaintances. I hardly think that someone who was involved with a scam would sell to their very own family.

It is hard to dispute the effectiveness of a product that has a cult-like following. Each member with a unique testimony of how MonaVie has changed their life.

MonaVie’s Beginnings
Launched in January of 2005, MonaVie was founded by Daillin Larsen, a 17-year direct sales veteran. Larsen decided to begin his own direct sales venture with a health and wellness product featuring unique nutritional value that would set itself apart from other health products.

Larsen decided that in addition to selling pure Açai berry juice that he would introduce additional tropical fruit juices to the product. Larsen worked with a team of scientists to collect an additional 19 fruits which would be combined to form the MonaVie that we know today. The juice touts itself as a product with natural healing properties, helping to boost the immune system and provide additional energy, among other benefits.

According to Wikipedia, “MonaVie has been the subject of recent media controversy, and several sources have questioned both the product’s value and the legality of claims regarding its reputed health benefits. The manufacturer of MonaVie products, as well as some of its senior distributors, were involved in four lawsuits between 2007 and 2008.”

MonaVie is Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)
MonaVie is sold through an MLM-style distributorship similar to Amway or Herbal Life. Each representative receiving commissions from the sales and recruitment efforts of those under him (known as the downline) similar to the shape of a pyramid (hence the term pyramid scheme). The more the downline sells and the more the downline recruits other salesmen, the more money the upline makes. This is a great model for marketing purposes, after all word of mouth advertising is the best form of advertising known to man. But for sales, the pay schedule for such an operation only leads to an inflated product price.

But business model aside, just how effective is the product? Does it do exactly what is claims to do? Or, are the sales representatives embellishing their results in order to sell product at the bequest of their upline?

MonaVie Ingredients
MonaVie’s most talked about ingredient is the Acai Berry. Harvested in the Amazon rainforest, and known for its acai berry benefits antioxidant the acai berry is most nutritious is a freeze dried state. It is unknown how much acai MonaVie actually contains because the company refuses to release that information. About 5.7% would be a good conservative guess.

MonaVie Original and Active juices list the following ingredients: blend of açaí (freeze-dried powder powder and puree); 100% fruit juice from concentrate (white grape, apple, acerola, purple grape, cranberry, passion fruit, apricot, prune, kiwi, blueberry, wolfberry (goji), pomegranate, lychee, camu camu); fruit purée (pear, banana, bilberry); citric acid, sodium benzoate. In addition to these ingredients, MonaVie Active lists d-glucosamine hydrochloride and esterified fatty acids as additives.

No Wonder MonaVie tastes so good. It’s like a fruit salad comprised of many of the fruits I eat every day, and that are available at the supermarket.

MonaVie is Expensive
A one-week supply of the wonder drink will cost you $45.00. So, for an entire month of health you are looking to have to spend $180.00. That would buy a lot of fruit!!
